Overall, there are far more millionaires in NRW in 2018 than in 2017.

The two largest cities in North Rhine-Westphalia, Düsseldorf and Cologne, had the most income millionaires in 2018. In the state capital 572 were counted, in Cologne it was 556. The Rhein-Kreis was in third place Neuss with 226. This is the result of current information from the State Statistical Office in North Rhine-Westphalia.

Number of millionaires in Krefeld increased
In comparison, the number of taxpayers registered in Krefeld with income of over one million euros in 2018 is lower. According to the information, there were 79 income millionaires in the silk weaver city, in 2017 there were still 70. For comparison: In Duisburg there were 38 in 2018, in Mönchengladbach 87 and in the entire district of Viersen 86.

In Krefeld, according to the information, there were 3.5 millionaires for every 10,000 inhabitants in 2018. In the previous year, the equivalent of 3.1 people in Krefeld had a seven-figure income.

Nationwide, there were an average of 3.3 millionaires for every 10,000 inhabitants in 2018. Of all 396 towns and communities in North Rhine-Westphalia, Meerbusch (Rhein-Kreis Neuss) with 20.5 per 10,000 inhabitants, the highest density of millionaires. Möhnesee (Soest district) followed in second place with 10.3, in third place Düsseldorf with 9.2. In around 90 municipalities there was not a single income millionaire.

There are no newer figures than from 2018. The reason: Only after all tax assessments had been completed could the tax offices make the anonymized tax data available to the statisticians. It should be noted that married couples who are taxed together are included in the statistics as a single taxpayer. The total number of income millionaires was 174 more than the previous year.
