It is supposed to be the most popular Tesla, in sales it could surpass S, X and 3 together. The first few pieces of the Model Y arrived in Prague, and they and all the cars ordered by the end of the year will arrive from China before production begins at a new factory near Berlin. We examined the car live.
Fourth to the party. The new Tesla, Model Y, has arrived in the Czech Republic, which is to become the brand’s best-selling model and, according to earlier statements by Tesla founder Elon Musek, Ypsilon could be more successful than S, X and 3 together.
Online sales launched in July (Read the price comparison with the competition here), an official performance for Tesel owners, potential customers and selected journalists took place at the showroom in Čestlice, Prague, over the weekend, where the Czech representation moved along with the service two months ago.
“Don’t quote me, my name is not important, only Elon gives interviews,” one of the employees of the Čestlice dealership answers all the questions. Tesla does not want to say how many pre-orders it has already registered in the Czech Republic, but it is allegedly a successful number than expected.
There are currently four cars in the austerity dealership. White, blue, gray and red. Only black is missing, so that the spartan range of varnishes for the Model Y can be fully represented. All except white are at an additional cost.
This is, after all, characteristic of Tesla, there are not many surcharges. But it also has its advantages. There is only a small risk that the configuration you selected would not be in stock in already manufactured cars. That is why the delivery time for the delivery of the car is said to be only one month.
Cars for Europe, and therefore also for the Czechia, have a Chinese passport and are assembled in a Shanghai factory. A large delivery of cars to Europe is now either on ships traveling from China or already in a Dutch port.
Production in a new Tesla factory near Berlin is expected to start in November, so that European demand will be covered by production from Germany. It is not yet known whether cars from Germany will be different from those in China.
Currently, only one version can be ordered, namely the Long Range ATV for the price of 1,724,490 crowns. The more expensive version of Performance, which will not be available until the beginning of next year, is exactly one hundred thousand more expensive. However, an additional 25,000 must be paid extra for the delivery of the car and the necessary documentation.
The Long Range version has an output of approximately 340 kW and a usable battery capacity of 75 kWh. Tesla does not provide official performance data, but publishes acceleration (from 0 to 100 km / h in five seconds) and maximum speed (217 km / h), the range is the theoretical 507 km.
With a 250 kilowatt quick charger, the car should be able to extend the range by 100 km in five minutes, or increase the range from 45 km to 360 km in 25 minutes. Tesla consumption is stated at 16.9 kW / 100 km. The more powerful Performance variant is not expected to reach European customers until the beginning of next year, ie probably from a German factory.
Although the Model Y stands on the Model 3 platform, it is more like an “iksk”. It is a blown crossover or medium-sized SUV, if you will, it only has a conventional rear door, namely recessed but mechanical door handles.
Inside there is a lot of space at the front and rear, the rear case is huge, under the front hood you can clean the charging cables. The bright interior of the car looks better, and the aforementioned Tesla employee, who did not want to be named, claims that the white “artificial leather” cleans well, even when children drive in the car.
The dashboard is dominated by a giant display, through which everything in the car is controlled, including opening the hood. Everything looks at a much better quality than has been the case in connection with Tesla in the past, whether it is materials or processing.
Now all those interested can view the cars in the car showroom, a booking form for test drives will be opened on the website of the Czech Tesla office in a month.
