So far no Omnikron cases known in the Freiburg region – Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district

The Omnikron variant worries many politicians and virologists. So far, no infections with the coronavirus variant are known in the Freiburg region.

“The health department is currently not aware of any person in whom the Omikron variant has been detected,” said press spokesman Matthias Fetterer on Monday morning. The health department is known both for the city of Freiburg and for the district of Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald.

Regardless of the new virus variant, the health department expects the number of infections to rise. Public health director Oliver Kappert assumes that the incidence of 500 will be exceeded in both the city and the district. He called for people to limit contacts and get vaccinated.

The district also tries to support family doctors with additional district vaccination points in Breisach, Mllheim and Titisee-Neustadt. These should be completed this week and then go into operation on December 6th.
