116 sections to be opened in Germany, CEC approved. So far, however, the government in Berlin has not agreed to open 106 sections outside Bulgaria’s embassy and consulates.

“Due to the fact that such a permit does not yet exist, these polling stations are announced in the current decision of the CEC on condition and will not be able to be opened if the German authorities do not give a permit by June 30,” the decision said. the commission, which approved the record 791 polling stations for Bulgarians abroad. This large number came after the latest changes in the Electoral Code allowed the opening of more than 500 automatic polling stations abroad – places where there were at least 100 voters in the last 5 years, and the removal of the limit of up to 35 polling stations. non-EU countries.

The largest number of polling stations will be in the UK – 135, or 100 more than in the previous elections on April 4.

In Turkey, Bulgarian citizens will be able to vote in 121 polling stations.

Among the other countries with large Bulgarian communities – in Spain the sections will be 67, in the USA – 58, in Greece – 32, and others. One of the sections in Greece, which is to be opened in Chalkida, turned out to be in the column with the polling stations in Denmark, probably after a technical error.

Due to the complex epidemic situation or military conflicts, sections will not open in Iraq, Syria, Palestine, Libya, Yemen, Ethiopia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Indonesia, Vietnam, Mongolia, North Korea, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.

On Tuesday, the CEC scheduled consultations with parliamentary parties and coalitions on the composition of sectional commissions abroad.

“The large number of polling stations outside the country will probably allow them to include representatives of the Bulgarian communities abroad. We already have proposals for members of the sections, “said CEC spokeswoman Rositsa Mateva.

Today, the Central Election Commission is to announce a public tender for the supply of another 1,500 voting machines. This was announced by the Deputy Chairman and spokesperson of the Central Election Commission Rositsa Mateva to the Bulgarian National Radio.

After Ciela Norma refused to deliver the devices, the commission began direct negotiations with the machine’s manufacturer, Smartmatic.

According to 24 Chasa, the company is ready to deliver more than 1,600 machines in case the CEC wants more devices. The proposed unit price of the machines is about BGN 4,200 without VAT, or a total of about BGN 8 million with VAT.

After concluding the contract with Smartmatic, the CEC is expected to decide how many of the large sections will have two voting machines on election day.

Otherwise, it is clear that only with machines in our country will vote in 9401 sections. Preliminary data show that the polling stations abroad will need a total of about 400 devices, including two machines for the seats with the most voters.

“Our idea is to place two devices in at least 700 sections. In these sections of the previous elections, more than 450 voters voted, “Mateva explained.
