At the end of the last broadcast, Sievers announced that viewers will soon be able to see him in the “heute” journal. He also expressly thanked his “great team behind the scenes”. It was always professionally serious, but internally it was always very funny and nice. He also spoke of “seven exciting, challenging and mostly difficult news years”. He thanked the people in front of the screens for their interest and trust. At the end he said: “Thank you for allowing me to be part of your evening again and again”.

The 51-year-old has been the presenter of the “heute” show at 7 p.m. since 2014 and has already been working for “heute journal” for a few weeks each year. According to ZDF information, Claus Kleber will have his last appearance in “heute journal” on December 30th. The 66-year-old has been presenting the news magazine since 2003. Starting next year, Christian Sievers will alternate with Marietta Slomka, and Bettina Schausten will guide viewers through the news program a few weeks a year.

Sievers has been working for ZDF since 1998, among other things as a presenter of the “ZDF morning magazine”, as a presenter of projections and analyzes in election programs and as head of the ZDF studio in Tel Aviv.

With “heute”, Mitri Sirin will follow Sievers and present the main news program of ZDF for the first time on October 11th. The 50-year-old has been working as a radio and TV presenter since 1997. In 2009 he moved from Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (RBB) to ZDF, where he has hosted the “ZDF morning magazine” since 2011.

The “heute journal” has been on the air since January 2nd, 1978. In the summer of 1991 the magazine was extended to half an hour on weekdays and extended to Saturday in early 1992. Since January 2000, the “heute journal” reports on Sunday evenings, since March 2019 in a length of 28 minutes.
