The pouches are touted as oral nicotine, “which offers the user an exciting and convenient way to consume nicotine on the go, with as little health risk as possible.” It is pointed out that the modern product is tobacco and tar free and its use does not cause harmful vapors (smoke).
Yes, but children don’t stop at one pack, and taking a huge dose of nicotine poses huge risks. The product is placed on the gum, between the lips and the teeth, and it starts releasing nicotine in a flash. Teenagers themselves report that they are dizzy and feel weightless. There are already used packets scattered in parks and hills all over Plovdiv.
However, snus is not the center of attention at the moment and no restrictions have been imposed on its sale. In many countries, the packets are used by people who want to give up smoking and fight their nicotine addiction. In Bulgaria, however, it is the exact opposite – adolescents create addiction and endanger their health.
