A snowy owl that escaped from Dierenpark Amersfoort a few weeks ago was found today in Berlicum in Brabant.
‘The snowy owl ran away when it was spooked by an action in the animal enclosure,’ says an animal park spokesperson Brabant broadcasting. “The first few days were filled with searching, then we thought the owl was dead.”
Caught the snowy owl
Until the Den Bosch animal ambulance received a call today from people who had caught a snowy owl. After some research, Animal Ambulance employees discovered that it came from Amersfoort Zoo. As the crow flies, it is just over 50 kilometers from Berlicum.
A zoo keeper is going to get the snowy owl tonight. “They were really surprised that the animal ended up here and was still alive,” said Ans van Kollenburg of Animal Ambulance.
The zoo is very happy that the bird is back. “A small miracle,” says the spokesman.
