Snowstorm ‘disappears’ to an entire town in a matter of seconds, El Siglo de Torreón

One man captured the moment when a snowstorm darkened and an entire town ‘disappeared’ in less than a minute.

The event was captured in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, when a man located at the top of a hill recorded the ‘wall’ of snow whipping the city and how little by little it was concealing and darkening the landscape due to the density of the snow, with only some Christmas lights still visible.

The blizzard was also accompanied by lightning and thunder, both of which can be heard faintly in the video.

The phenomenon responsible for darkening the town is known as snow squall, which is defined as the strong and sudden increase in wind speed, which is several minutes in duration compared to a simple gust.
