– It will be a normal school day for everyone, but for some it will be digital.
The decision was taken in a meeting with the State Administrator on Thursday afternoon.
There it was decided that upper secondary schools in Sogn og Fjordane county have regular physical education, while upper secondary schools in Hordaland will mainly have digital education. Some schools will operate with a hybrid solution, according to Bjørn Lyngedal, county director in Vestland county.
The reason is that most pupils in the region use public transport to and from school. This is in contrast to primary school pupils, who like to go.
– The main reason is to relieve the load on the road system and public transport. We have between 10,000-15,000 pupils in old Hordaland, who largely use public transport, says Lyngedal.
The pupils can find information on the school’s website, he says further.

Bergen Private Gymnasium was among the first schools to announce digital teaching on Friday.
– Due to bad weather forecasts, and in addition recommendations about home office, all teaching on Friday will be carried out on Teams, the school writes in an email to the school’s students.

Open elementary schools
The children’s schools, on the other hand, will be open tomorrow, informs the head of department for schools in Bergen municipality, Frode Nilsen.
– We have considered it to be important to keep the schools open. The way we read the weather forecast, it won’t be dangerous to go to school tomorrow.

On Thursday morning, he told Bergens Tidende that the pupils may have to prepare for a slightly different school day.
– Employees may have challenges getting to work. So it will probably be a slightly different day. It will be as it will be in such a special situation.
The kindergartens in Bergen municipality will also be open tomorrow, according to the municipality’s website. This also applies to Askøy municipality, they state in a press release.
