Heavy snowfall on Monday evening ensured that traffic in the state capital temporarily came to a standstill. More snowfalls are forecast for Tuesday.
In the city of Salzburg, short but heavy snowfall on Monday afternoon and Monday evening caused temporary traffic chaos. Around 4 p.m. it had started to snow heavily. Within two hours more than ten centimeters of fresh snow came together. Enough to cause chaos in urban evening traffic. The clearance vehicles struggled to get through. Trolleybuses and trucks got stuck due to the slippery road surface. It jammed on all routes – in Ignaz-Harrer-Straße in Lehen as well as in Nonntal.
Until late Monday evening, it continued to snow very heavily in the state capital. In places, up to 25 centimeters of fresh snow came together.
And it should continue in winter. The ZAMG forecast for the State of Salzburg states: “On Tuesday the clouds will predominate, it will snow from time to time. It will only be temporarily drier in the morning, the clouds make way for a few short sunny phases. It is friendliest in Lungau. Am In the afternoon the snowfall will be more frequent again.
