The snow offensive continues on the reliefs of the Rhône department. Wednesday January 10 and Thursday January 11, 2024, the snowflakes fell again around Lyon in the areas of Lyonnais and Beaujolais mountains in several municipalities.

Snow is falling in quantity this Wednesday evening in the mountains of Lyonnais and Beaujolais, as here in Les Sauvages. The precipitation will gradually stop and the weather will become dry again throughout the night,” explains Romain Weber from Lyon Météo, sharing a video of the Sauvages village completely covered in snow. The small town of 645 inhabitants, north of Tarare, was covered in a thick white coat.

Snow has been falling almost continuously in these areas of the Rhône department since Monday.

Snow, cold… what are the forecasts for Thursday and Friday?

Météo France has lifted the snow and ice vigilance for the Rhône department. The weather forecast does not predict any more snow for the weekend, but the cold will persist. It is in the Lyonnais and Beaujolais mountains that it will be the coldest this Thursday afternoon with temperatures of 0 to 1°C at most.

On Friday, the frosts will be significant with -4°C for the minimum on the Rhône reliefs, to the west of the department. There is a risk of freezing fog on the Loire/Rhône border.
