The 47-year-old snowboarder won a European Cup parallel slalom in Davos and, after a Gastein déjà vu, now wants to prove her strong form in the World Cup again.
Claudia Riegler successfully used the race-free time in the Snowboard World Cup to check her form in the European Cup. The 47-year-old from Flachau won the parallel slalom in Davos in front of six Swiss women and defeated the reigning world champion Julie Zogg in the final. “I got a perfect run. The shape is right,” said Riegler. With confidence, the 2015 world champion is now traveling to Russia, where a total of three races are on the program on Saturday in Moscow and a week later in Bannoje.
Riegler finally put up with the tough departure at the individual race in Bad Gastein. The very next day at the home world cup, she had impressively reported back with a victory in the team competition alongside Andreas Prommegger. “In Davos it went the same for me as it did last in Gastein. There the individual competition with my fall in the round of 16 was forgotten, but I won with Andi on the second day,” said Riegler, who was after two in the first race in Switzerland Mistakes still missed the final qualification of the best 16.
