Snow Showers: It will be freezing and slippery in Germany

Offenbach (dpa) – For the third Advent, temperatures in many regions of Germany remain freezing. Today, values ​​are usually not expected to go above zero, as the German Weather Service (DWD) announced early in the morning in Offenbach.

Maximum values ​​of up to two degrees are only possible in the west and on the coasts. A severe frost of minus ten degrees is expected for the next few nights.

Already on Saturday evening there were some accidents caused by ice in the south and east. In the Vogtland district of Saxony, a 19-year-old girl skidded her car and crashed into a tree. She sustained minor injuries, police said. Material damage was caused in several accidents in Upper Bavaria. For example, at an intersection in Oberpframmern (Ebersberg district), a 53-year-old motorist slipped on summer tires and crashed into the car of a 39-year-old.

For Sunday the weather service continues to warn of ice due to damp frost. There may be new snow showers in the east and southeast sectors. Snowfall will continue into the eastern half into the night through Monday, otherwise it will remain mostly dry.

The snow is expected to continue in the east on Monday, before moving towards Poland later in the day. In the rest of the country it will be mostly friendly, in the west and southwest there will also be longer sunny periods. The daytime maximum values ​​are between minus four and zero degrees, on the Lower Rhine and along the coasts the values ​​can rise up to two degrees.
