Step into the World of French Impressionism with “Monet & Friends Alive” in Kobe
The immersive art exhibition Monet & Friends Alive has taken Kobe by storm, offering visitors a breathtaking journey into the world of French Impressionism. Held at the KIITO Hall in the Design Creative Center Kobe, this multisensory experience celebrates the 150th anniversary of the first Impressionism exhibition, bringing the works of legendary artists like Claude Monet, Camille Pissarro, and Pierre-Auguste Renoir to life in a way that’s both innovative and deeply moving.
A Festivity of Art and Innovation
Ryohei Abe, a member of the popular Japanese group Snow Man and the official ambassador for the exhibition, recently shared his enthusiasm for the event during a press conference on January 9th. Abe described the exhibition as a unique possibility to experience art on a grand scale.
“It’s not easy to see so many paintings on such a powerful screen, and seeing them on a large screen allows you to get closer to the works. You can even feel the brushstrokes of the impressionist painters,” Abe remarked. He also highlighted how the atmosphere of Kobe perfectly complements the exhibition, creating a harmonious blend of art and culture.
A Personal Connection to Art
Abe’s passion for art shines through as he discusses his evolving gratitude for different styles and artists. “The way I feel at that time is different, and it’s really fun to see myself change.I’ve always liked pointillism, but this time I think once again that Monet is really great,” he shared.
His interest in art extends beyond the exhibition, as he expressed a desire to visit the Adachi Museum in Okayama, known for its stunning gardens and impressive art collection.
Snow Man’s Artistic Side
In a playful nod to the exhibition’s title, Abe was asked about the artistic talents of his fellow Snow Man members. He singled out Raul, the group’s youngest member, praising his creativity. “Raul is very good at self-producing. I am amazed every time he updates his SNS,” Abe said with a smile.
A Busy Start to the Year
The exhibition’s timing at the beginning of the year made for a hectic schedule for Abe. Reflecting on his year-end and New Year holidays, he shared, “At the end of the year, I was able to stream YouTube on Snow Man. I whent to New Year’s visit with (Daisuke).” When asked about his New Year’s wishes, Abe emphasized the importance of health, saying, “Good health. I think that’s really the most important thing.”
