Snow Man Meguro Ren interviews experts fighting infectious diseases (with comments)

Served as the program anchor for the special program “I want to say something – We live in an era of infectious diseases” that will be broadcast on Fuji TV on November 10.Meguro lotus(Snowman) will be responsible.

Meguro ended up as Snow Man in 2020, the week after the first coronavirus infection was confirmed in Japan. Faced with unprecedented conditions, the group’s activities were greatly affected.

In this episode, Meguro, who has such regrets, goes on to act as the program’s navigator and interviews research centers and experts who are on the front line fighting. infectious diseases. While we learn about preventive medicine and the importance of self-reliance that is useful in our daily lives, we will think about the steps we should take in the future as we live in “age infectious diseases.”

The first place Meguro visited was Fuso Town, Aichi Prefecture. Fuso Town, which aims to create a town where people can naturally be aware of their health, says that as part of its activities, it continues to hold special classes for children to learn about “immune care.” Meguro joins the children and learns about preventive medicine.

Next, Meguro went to the National Institute of Infectious Diseases, Japan’s leading infectious disease research institute. Led by Assistant Director Tetsuro Matano, they will tour various facilities within the institute and hear the voices of researchers fighting infectious diseases.

Over the two days, I heard a lot of different stories, and although there may be only a few, the way I see “immunity” has changed before and after these two days. Now that I finished recording, I was able to realize, “Oh, this is what it is”, and it also gave me the opportunity to review my own body.

In a special class, I asked the children a simple but thoughtful question, “What do you think about immunity?” The teacher’s explanation was very easy to understand, and I learned a lot. Also, when I saw the virus with my own eyes at the National Institute of Infectious Diseases, it felt completely different than when I saw it on TV news. I was scared and I felt that the virus was right in front of me. On the other hand, I rarely have the opportunity to work at a research institute like this, and I was grateful to be able to live with the constant support of researchers.

It seems that there are still many infectious diseases somewhere in the world, not only in the news that we see every day. Since we don’t know what the future holds, I think it’s important to have a sense of urgency and increase our body’s natural immunity as much as possible every day. There is a lot of information out there, but I hope this gives you the opportunity to find information you believe in and start facing your own body.
