snow in the plain this Monday, 5 to 10 cm possible in Gard and Hérault!

Episode of snow until the plain this Monday

The episode of snow until the plain is confirmed for this Monday, February 27, 2023 in Languedoc. The departments of Gard and of Herault are going to see the snow to fall to the plain ! In reality, this snowy episode will begin overnight from Sunday to Monday, in the second part. The first snowflakes will fall between midnight and 3 a.m. in the Rhone Valley.

The Retour d’Est will reach the whole of the Gard department in the second part of the night and this Monday, February 27, 2023 in the morning. A priori, the rain-snow limit will drop to the plain. It is also likely that the snow invites itself to the coastal plain, even by the sea! This disturbance will move Monday morning towards the Cevennessouthern Lozère and eastern Hérault.

2 to 5 cm, even 5 to 10 cm of snow in the plain

As it passes, precipitation of moderate intensity is expected, accompanied by a light mistral. The ground temperature suggests that the snow will have no trouble holding on. Thus, amounts of snow close to 2-5cm of snow are possible in the plain. As well to Beaucaire, Nîmes, Alès, Uzès and Bagnols-sur-Cèze. Probably the same on the side of Sommieres !

In the Hérault, it is also very likely to have quantities similar to Lunel et Montpellier or even to Ganges et Clermont-l’Herault. On the Pic Saint-Loup side, the Cévennes foothills and the interior plains, 5 to 10 cm of snow are likely Monday during the day. In the coastal areas of Gard and of Heraultas for example at Grau-du-Roi or at La Grande Motte, snow on the ground is also possible. It is however more uncertain, we will come back to it.

Bassin de Thau and Biterrois spared this Monday?

The further we goWest of Hérault, the more difficult it will be for the Retour d’Est to penetrate. This means that, initially, the risk of snow will be lower but not zero this Monday towards Béziers and Sète. But beware, this type of weather configuration opens the door to everything! It is possible that eventually the precipitation will manage to spread further west. It cannot therefore be ruled out that it will snow in Sète and Béziers on Monday.

These weather forecasts are made in the state of the current models, this Friday, February 24 afternoon. Adjustments will still take place in the next 48 hours, in particular on the location and intensity snowfall. Do not hesitate to connect regularly to our site to obtain the latest forecasts.
