An orange warning was issued for snow in eastern Norway and Agder on Wednesday and Thursday.
Several sections of road were closed on Wednesday, police responded to numerous road accidents and challenging driving conditions were reported in many places.
As of this morning, various police districts and road traffic centers have come up with clear advice:
– Leave the car if you can!
This has happened
On Wednesday morning and afternoon, police and road traffic centers in Eastern Norway reported a number of traffic accidents and incidents on a number of major roads:
At 3.28 pm: Police have received a report of a traffic accident in Kongsberg. Two cars have collided and there is one person in each car. All emergency services are active and manual routing beyond the crash site has been implemented.
At 2.49 pm: Two cars collided on Oslo’s Ring 2 at Westbound Ullevål Hospital. The message to AMK indicates that there will be personal injury.
At 2.21pm: Accessibility is restricted on the E6 section past Hvam in Viken in the direction of Oslo due to a lorry train disruption.
At 2.00 pm: A man in his 60s collided with a guard rail in Sandefjord. The person was unconscious when emergency services arrived and is being cared for by the health system.
At 1.51pm: Oslo Police close Loop 3 to southbound traffic for short periods to allow lorry trains to travel at sufficient speed from Brynstunnelen to Ryen and onto Skulleruddumpa.
At 1.49 pm: The right-hand lane on the E6 at Alnabru in Oslo had to be closed in the direction of Gardermoen due to the stop of two road trains.
At 1.27pm: Ås i Viken’s Nøstvettunnel was partially closed due to train problems.
At 1.20pm: Two freight trains were stopped on the E6 at the Lindeberg exit from Oslo.
At 1.17pm: The E6 after the Sandesund bridge in Sarpsborg had to be partially closed in the direction of Svinesund due to a traffic accident.
At 12.40: The access ramp to E6 at Patterødkrysset in Moss has been closed due to a stopped train.
At 12:59: Two cars were involved in a traffic accident on the E6 at Kalnes to Østfold northbound. Traffic moves only in the right lane.
At 12.21: Several lorry trains had problems climbing the E134 at Notodden.
At 12:00: Two caravans were stopped on the slopes east of Telemarksporten on the E18 in Porsgrunn. A car chain smoked, but the traffic went by.
At 11:02: The Oslofjord tunnel in the direction of Drøbak was closed for a period of time due to the shutdown of freight trains.
– Slow moving tail
Traffic on the southbound section from Ring 3 to E6 in Oslo experienced severe traffic problems on Wednesday.
During the day, several wagons got stuck on the uphill slope on Skulleruddumpa and many needed help.
Oslo Police then ask all trucks and lorries to choose Mosseveien, rather than the E6 past Ryen and Mortensrud, if they are going south.
Mucus in throat: May reveal disease
– Mosseveien is lower and flatter, and better for wagons and trucks to ride. Hence our recommendation, Rune Hekkelstrand, operations manager in the Oslo police district, tells Dagbladet.
In and around Oslo there are slow queues in many places.
Accidents and road closures
Already in the morning several accidents were reported in which cars ended up against the guardrail. This happened, among others, on the E18 in Drammen, on the E134 in Kongsberg, on the E6 in Vingrom and on the E6 in Oslo.
The E18 at Sandvika in the direction of Drammen was closed for a while after a collision between two cars.
A few hours later, the E18 was closed at Lierbakkene in Drammen in the direction of Oslo, due to a lorry train blocking the road.
Several sections of the road were also routinely closed due to the storm.
This applies, among other things, to the E134 above Haukelifjell, which will probably not be reopened to traffic on Wednesday.
R7 Hardangervidda, Songesandvegen in Hjelmeland, national road 13 Vikafjellet and Hunnedalsvegen (provincial road 450) in Rogaland and Agder are also closed for the same reason.
Road Traffic Centers report convoy driving at several points and that several road sections may be closed at short notice.
