Weather: Snow, here we go! Soon it will be very abundant, up to 1 meter and also at low altitudes; the areas involved
Snow is ready to return over the next week to very low altitudesWe are on the eve of a very heavy snow load! The confirmation came a little while ago with the latest update and attention, this time the snowfall could be seen at very low altitudes for the period, with accumulations even up to 1 meter on our mountains.
All this will be caused by a marked worsening of the weather conditions already expected from next hours: a flow of very cold air currents, of polar origin, will break into the Mediterranean basin from Gate of the Rhone (south-eastern France) giving life to the Poppea cyclone with direct consequences on many of our regions, from North to South.
As a first effect we expect a drop in temperatures with the values that will be brought under the climatic averages.
This will help the return of the snow already since Monday 21 November starting from 700 meters above sea level throughout the Alps (at lower altitudes on the border valleys). And it didn’t end there, on the contrary. The further entry of cold air at altitude will cause the snowfall level to collapse, with the white flakes pushing forward up to about 400 meters (locally also at 300 meters in the province of Bolzano, in case of heavy rainfall) on Lombardy (Valtellina, Valcamonica), Trentino Alto Adige, Veneto (Belluno Dolomites, Asiago Plateau) e Friuli Venezia Giulia.
In the map below, referring precisely to the day of Tuesday 22 Novembercolor viola indicates the areas where they are foreseen between 15 and 40 cm of fresh snow.Snow and odds expected for Tuesday 22. In bold the odds of snowfall
This is undoubtedly excellent news especially for the many ski resorts in view of the now imminent season: Bormio (LIKE THIS), Livigno (LIKE THIS), Our Lady of Campiglio (TN), cortina d’Ampezzo (BL) are ready to fill up with snow, after a long time; last Winter, let’s not forget, the snow almost never arrived in a large part of the Alps, leaving entire regions practically dry. Given the persistence and intensity of rainfall above 1800/2000 meters of altitude, accumulations are expected up to 1 meter of fresh snowespecially on Dolomites.
On the other hand, in the Apennines, due to the milder call of the currents from the southern quadrants, we expect heavy snowfalls only starting from around 1100 meters.
In short, let’s get ready for a real advance of winter with this burst of cold air that will favor the return of snow after a long time, up to hilly altitudes.
