Partially blocked highways

This wet blanket of snow made traffic very tricky this morning, “except on the main Auxois network and the Saône plain“Says the Departmental Council of Côte-d’Or. Snow removal and salting operations are underway.

Several vehicles found themselves stranded on the A38 between Pouilly and Dijon. Also on the A31 from Nuits-Saint-Georges to Til Châtel, the A6 between Pouilly and Beaune, as well as on the A39 between Dijon and Soirans. The prefecture announced a return to normal in the morning.

Traffic is however prohibited for heavy goods vehicles on the A39 in the Dijon-Lyon direction. They are invited to stop in the areas of Poulet de Bresse and La Vallière, in Saône-et-Loire.

In a statement, the prefecture of Saône-et-Loire indicates that the secondary roads are “cleared“and circulate properly.

Public and school transport disrupted

Rail and public transport networks are also slowed down. Delays are to be expected on buses and trams in Dijon.

School transport did not work on 25% of circuits in Côte-d’Or, according to the prefecture. Of the 29 regular coach lines, 7 did not work and 9 were disrupted this Friday morning. A return to normal is announced during the day.

In Saône-et-Loire, 24 school coaches were unable to circulate and 9 are suffering from disrupted traffic.

Internet users delighted

Despite the disruptions, this first snowy episode of the season, however, delighted Internet users.

Temperatures softened very quickly, with the arrival of the rain. According to Météo-France, the snow should start to melt in the morning.

However, frost is expected in the evening, and overnight from Saturday to Sunday. Vigilance therefore remains essential.
