In the south of Lower Saxony around Göttingen, the expected heavier snowfall started on Saturday evening. “It’s slowly snowing in,” said a spokesman for the Göttingen motorway police at around 10.30 p.m.
The traffic on the A7 motorway flows unhindered, the road maintenance department is in action. The Osnabrück autobahn police said it was cold, but there was no snow yet.
Weather service warns of snowstorms and black ice in Lower Saxony
The traffic management center in Hanover issued a warning for all of Lower Saxony at 10 p.m. There is a risk of slippery roads, slippery snow, snowfall and drifting snow. This also applies to the motorways. Drivers should drive particularly carefully.

The German Weather Service (DWD) warns of heavy snowfall with heavy to extreme snow drifts over central Germany for the night from Sunday to Monday. Parts of Lower Saxony are also affected by this. Roads and railways could become impassable, trees could collapse under the load of snow.
