Blocked roads, stopped motorists, serial accidents…Heavy snowfalls have had consequences on motorway traffic in the Paris region, with the temporary closure of the A12 and A13 motorways. The victims of the road recount these endless hours of waiting.
Cars stopped in single file or on the shoulder, motorists shivering in the cold… Yvelines and Essonne have gone into orange snow-ice vigilance, after the quantities of snow that have fallen “higher than expected” according to Meteo France. On the A13 motorway, temporarily closed like the A12, traffic is at a standstill. Which causes a big mess. “Everything is blocked, there is ice. It’s dead”a road wreck tells TF1. “I just have to notify work to tell them I won’t be there”deplores another driver.
“They didn’t anticipate. The snow no longer falls, it melted and froze”annoys a resident of Ile-de-France, on his way to work at the Rungis market. “It pisses me off. We got up to go to work and we’ve been here like idiots for two hours.” “It’s a big mess, I’ve never seen that”confides another motorist, stuck in traffic jams following a series of accidents.
In Yvelines, while the snowplows have been working since 4:30 a.m. to restore optimal traffic conditions as quickly as possible, we must be patient. The road remains slippery. So be careful if you take the road.
