Snow all over the country –

According to Foreca, it can snow as far south as this week.

Iltalehti reported on Sunday that the low pressure areas sweeping over Finland will bring snowfall this week. Snow showers are possible throughout the country as far south as the week progresses, and temperatures will plummet as the week progresses, according to Foreca.

Meteorological forecast Anna Latvala told Iltalehte on Sunday that starting from Tuesday there may be a weak frost in Lapland, which may increase to six degrees by the end of the week. In the south, the daytime temperatures on Tuesday and Wednesday will be around 5–10 degrees, but on the weekend the mercury can already drop below five degrees.

Foreca reported on its blog today about the latest monthly forecast of the European Center for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts. Colder than usual weather is also predicted for the week that started today in the monthly forecast.

Changes possible next week

However, based on the monthly forecast, winter did not come to stay at least everywhere, but we may see a change in the weather, if at all, the very next week. Foreca’s blog says that for the week starting on November 4th, according to the monthly forecast, both cooler and milder areas than usual are expected.

The story continues after the picture.

On Sunday, Foreca’s meteorologist urged to follow the weather forecast for the week with a view to changing winter tires. This week it is possible that frost or black ice will start to form on the road. Illustration picture. OUTI LAKE

Latvala says in Foreca’s blog that high pressure will remain in the central and western parts of Europe in the first week of November, but it may partially spread to Finland. In this case, mild air would flow into Finland.

– According to this monthly forecast, it would be enough to raise the average temperature in Lapland higher than usual, and the rest of Finland would be either usual or colder. However, the border can still move in one direction or the other. If realized, this would mean that the rains will turn back to water in the north until next week.

The predictability of the week starting on November 11 and the following week is already considerably weaker. Based on the monthly forecast, the temperature will then probably remain normal or warmer, and the amount of precipitation will remain typical for the time.

Monthly forecasts tell about the average weather for a week or month, which means that there can be great variation between days and weeks.
