Snoop Dogg buys record label Death Row Records, with which he broke through

In the mid-1990s, personal feuds arose at the label after rapper Tupac was murdered. Suge Knight ended up in jail and Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre left the label.

Death Row Records lasted another ten years, partly by re-released old songs on compilation albums. In 2006 the label was declared bankrupt, but due to a new bankruptcy law in America Suge Knight got the company back. A year later he sold the label.

After several owners, it came into the hands of MRNK Music Group, which is part of investment company Blackstone. Snoop Dogg had previously wanted to take over the company, but the previous owners had failed to do so.
