Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre have rescheduled two shows that were scheduled to take place in Hollywood at the end of June as part of the “Doggystyle Anniversary Tour”. They say it’s a show of solidarity with the striking Writers Guild. The shows are now scheduled to take place in October. They hope that the strike will then be over. Rapper Snoop Dog writes on Insta:
“Due to the ongoing union strikes and negotiations, we have made the decision to postpone our shows at the Hollywood Bowl. We stand in solidarity with the unions and hope that a fair deal is reached and everyone can return to work .”
It’s not the first time Snoop Dogg has raised his voice in support of the screenwriters. Almost a month ago he drew parallels with the music industry on a talk show and said: Many songwriters and musicians are also paid unfairly by streaming services. Many cannot make a living from it and have to have part-time jobs. Snoop Dogg was pretty upset about that. The only problem is that the music industry is far less unionized. You just can’t exert the same pressure on the industry as the film industry. In the meantime, the actors’ and directors’ unions in Hollywood are also on strike.
