Peruvian mining exports in January 2024 amounted to US$ 3,104 million, which reflected a growth of 15% compared to the same month in 2023 (US$ 2,707 million), reported the National Society of Mining, Petroleum and Energy (SNMPE).
The mining and energy union noted that the increase in mining exports in the first month of the year is explained by the higher shipping value of all metals with the exception of lead, zinc and molybdenum.
Along these lines, he stressed that mining exports represented 58% of the total shipments abroad that Peru registered in January 2024.
The SNMPE announced that copper exports totaled 1,440 million dollars last January, a figure that represented an increase of 6.6% compared to the same month in 2023 (US$ 1,351 million).
The growth in copper exports recorded in January – he explained – was due to the fact that the volume increased by 3.4%, while the price of this metal grew by 3% compared to the same month last year.
The business union cited that gold exports reached 1,071 million dollars in January 2024, which represented a growth of 69.8% compared to the same month in 2023 (US$ 630 million).
Exports of this precious metal were favored by the increase in volume by 58.2% and its price by 7.4% compared to the same month in 2023.
Finally, the SNMPE indicated that copper represented 46% of the value of mining exports; while gold 35% and iron 6%.
