A total of 187.2 million dollars were paid to the Peruvian State by companies that work in the hydrocarbon sector as royalties in the January – February two-month period of this year, reported the National Society of Mining, Petroleum and Energy (SNMPE).
The energy mining union specified that this figure (US$ 187.2 million) represented a decrease of 28.8% in relation to the US$ 263.1 million dollars paid by oil companies for royalties in the first two months (January – February) of 2023.
February 2024
Companies operating in the national hydrocarbon industry – he indicated – paid 90.5 million dollars in royalties in February 2024, which meant a drop of 21.2% compared to the same month in 2023 (US$ 114.9 million).
Likewise, he cited that the royalties for February 2024 (US$ 90.5 million) were also lower than those reported in the same month of 2022 (US$ 173.9 million).
The energy mining union explained that, last February, companies in the hydrocarbon sector paid royalties: US$ 37.2 million for the exploitation of natural gas and US$ 18.8 million for oil; as well as US$ 34.5 million for the production of natural gas liquids.
