A total of 1,221.6 million dollars were paid to the Peruvian State by companies that work in the hydrocarbon sector as royalties in 2023, reported the National Society of Mining, Petroleum and Energy (SNMPE).
The energy mining union said that this figure (US$ 1,221.6 million) represented a decrease of -33.7% in relation to the US$ 1,843 million dollars paid by oil companies for royalties in 2022.
The SNMPE explained that, from January to December 2023, companies in the hydrocarbon sector paid royalties: US$ 615 million for the exploitation of natural gas and US$ 224.2 million for oil; as well as US$ 382.4 million for the production of natural gas liquids.

Likewise, the business union indicated that companies operating in the national hydrocarbon industry paid 87.7 million dollars in royalties in December 2023, which meant a reduction of -42.1% compared to the same month in 2022 (US$ 151.5 million). .
It also cited that the royalties for December 2023 (US$ 87.7 million) were lower than those reported in the same month of 2021 (US$ 171.4 million).
