“SNL’s Weekend Update Roasts Donald Trump and Katie Britt’s Awkward Performances”

SNL’s Weekend Update segment never fails to deliver the laughs, and this week was no exception. The comedic duo of Colin Jost and Michael Che took aim at some of the most talked-about moments in politics, including Donald Trump’s verbal blunders and Alabama Senator Katie Britt’s awkward State of the Union rebuttal.

Starting off with Trump, Jost couldn’t resist poking fun at the former president’s criticism of President Joe Biden’s address to Congress. Trump had written on his new social media platform, Truth Social, that “the words are not flowing smoothly out of his mouth.” Jost sarcastically responded, “we can’t all speak with the effortless grace as Donald J. Trump.” The audience erupted in laughter as a clip played of Trump struggling to get through a sentence at a recent campaign stop in North Carolina. Jost quipped, “it sounded as if someone just inserted a colonoscopy camera.” The clever wordplay had everyone in stitches.

But the fun didn’t stop there. Jost then turned his attention to Katie Britt’s widely panned rebuttal, which was hilariously spoofed in SNL’s cold open with Scarlett Johansson playing the senator. After playing some of the most cringe-worthy moments from Britt’s remarks, Jost couldn’t help but comment on her acting skills, or lack thereof. He joked, “Those were all scenes from her one-woman show, ‘A Britt Much.’ It’s the play critics are calling, ‘Is she okay?'” The audience erupted in laughter once again as a still image of Jost’s own acting performance in the film Tom and Jerry flashed on the screen. Jost humbly admitted, “That was honestly some of the worst acting I’ve ever seen, and I’ve seen me.”

In addition to Trump and Britt, co-anchor Michael Che had his fair share of jokes to deliver. He addressed retiring Arizona Senator Kyrsten Sinema, former Fox News Chairman Rupert Murdoch, and Senator Mitch McConnell endorsing Trump. Che’s sharp wit and comedic timing kept the audience engaged and laughing throughout his segment.

SNL’s Weekend Update continues to be a fan favorite, providing a much-needed dose of humor in the world of politics. With their clever jokes and hilarious commentary, Colin Jost and Michael Che never fail to entertain. Whether it’s roasting Donald Trump or poking fun at awkward performances like Katie Britt’s, SNL’s Weekend Update is a must-watch for anyone in need of a good laugh.
