In 2023, SNCF Réseau is continuing to modernize the rail network in Occitania. From April 11 to August 25, track renewal operations are carried out using a factory train between Nîmes and Beaucaire, then between Nîmes and Saint-Gervasy from April 14 to July 31.
The replacement of the main components of the railway track (rails, sleepers, ballast) is carried out by means of a factory train called “rapid suite”, making it possible to treat up to 900 meters of track per night of work. This work guarantees the performance of the line, by optimizing the regularity of the trains, by improving the comfort and safety of passengers.
On the Beaucaire – Nîmes and Nîmes – Saint-Gervasy axis, SNCF Réseau will carry out the equivalent of more than 46 km of track renewal in 2023. The work takes place at night from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m., Monday to Friday, in order to limit the consequences on rail traffic and in particular for daily trains.
