SNCF transport: 553 passengers stranded for more than 5 hours on a night train in Thenissey

An intercity train from Nice and Briançon tore catenary cables creating a power supply fault this morning between Thenissey and Les Laumes-Alésia. 553 passengers on this night train were stranded for 5:15 a.m. The SNCF chartered another train to allow them to leave.

This morning August 14 at 5:58 a.m., the SNCF indicated that traffic was disrupted on the Dijon-Laroche-Paris axis.

In question, an intercity train which had torn 60 meters of catenary cables at Thenissey.

At least 553 passengers stranded

The catenairists were on site to repair the damage. For 5:15 a.m., a night train from Nice and Briançon and going in the direction of Paris was blocked.

The 553 passengers were towed by a locomotive to Les Laumes-Alésia station and took a new TER chartered from Paris-Bercy.

Stranded passengers received bottled water and meal trays when boarding the replacement train. The SNCF indicates that they will also be compensated up to 200% of the price of their ticket. The company tells us to present its “apologies for the conditions of transport” of the travelers.
