It is not yet clear, however, if it will ever come on the market, or if Qualcomm will point directly to the new generation of chips.
Recently we reviewed Samsung Galaxy Book S, one of the ultrabooks with the chip Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx, called to animate Windows 10 on ARM. The results have left us a little dumbfounded, because the undoubted advantages related to autonomy, reactivity and always active connection, are offset by a prohibitive list price and above all performance unable to go beyond ordinary administration.
Microsoft and Qualcomm are then expected to start worry seriously, since Apple has announced its epochal turning point towards ARM architecture and, you know, when the Colossus of Cupertino is moving, it is because he knows he has the trump card in his hands. We therefore need a qualitative leap, which we hope will arrive with the next generation of chip Qualcomm. In the meantime, however, one may be arriving version over-clockata of the current Snapdragon 8cx.

For the moment known by the code name SC8180XP – unlike the current SC8180X – the new variant offers the same 8-core architecture, with the 4 dedicated to performance this time able to go up to 3.15 GHz frequency, against the current 2.84 GHz. A small push that could, however, tangibly improve performance, albeit without performing miracles. We will see if Qualcomm decides to seriously launch this Plus variant, or if it will remain a project in the drawer.
