Snapchat app for short-lived photos and videos has launches, this Monday 7 November, a new augmented reality module with the Strava Fitness application. Users will be able to view their activities and progress from the sports app on Snapchat.
Users will be able to show their progress in a video or photo with a Strava filter
This collaboration between the two applications allows Snapchat to appeal to a new and older audience. Strava is in fact a sports social network. The app tracks over 30 types of activity and now has over 100 million users, growing by 2 million users per month. In total, the sports platform has reached 6 billion registered activities since its creation in 2009, of which 1.8 billion in 2021.
In detail, a filter will be available on the Snapchat app to view training stats on Strava: “This new Strava activity filter allows Snapchatters to take a photo or post a Story that instantly tells the story of their recent workouts. (.. .) This augmented reality experience helps you better tell your Snapchat story, ”Snapchat promotes in its press release. Athletes can easily navigate through all their activities with the buttons on the side of the application with the yellow logo.
For its part, Strava integrates the Creative Kit into its application so that its community can easily share videos and slideshows of its training sessions on Snapchat or its social network.
Despite disappointing financial results in the third quarter of 2022, with only a meager increase in revenue and weaker profits than in 2021, Snapchat is undaunted. To raise the bar, the social network wants to age its 363 million users. The platform with the ghost logo has long since maximized its audience on a young population, over 30% of users are between 15 and 24 years old. This new strategy should, if successful, convince advertisers on whom the ephemeral photo application depends financially.
