A whole year has just passed since Snapchat offered its most active users a paid subscription, Snapchat+. The interest in it has been significant from the very beginning – only a month and a half after the launch, the number of users reached around one million. Although later the number of Snapchat+ subscribers did not grow as fast, a year after its launch it is still high and currently reaches four million users.
For $3.99 per month, a Snapchat+ subscription gives users a variety of exclusive, customized, one-of-a-kind features and early access to select features, such as the AI chatbot “My AI.” The company has also just unveiled two new features that subscribers will be able to access in the near future. The first of these is Expressive Chat Messages, which will allow you to highlight text in messages with a larger font size. The second feature is “Custom Chat Colors”, which will give the user the option to choose the color in which their name appears in chats.

While Snapchat+ is showing steady growth in terms of subscribers, it’s still small compared to the app’s total active users, which currently stand at 375 million. One of the explanations is that the subscription is still only available in certain countries: USA, Canada, Great Britain, France, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. No word yet on plans to make the subscription available elsewhere.
