Snapchat, option sport – ZDNet

With broadcasts in prime time widely commented live on many platforms, we already know that entertainment and social networks go hand in hand. But this time around, sport is in the sights. In fact, 70% of snapchaters say they use the famous application while watching matches or competitions in their favorite discipline.

With Covid-19 and the end of public events, the world of sport has apparently not lost its supporters. The bleachers are empty, but they are largely on Snapchat. In an article by blog, the social network published the figures of a survey of its users last October.

For sports audiences, you could almost say that the confinement has been good. Let’s not exaggerate all the same, but the public took advantage of the situation to turn to new disciplines. 17% of those polled said that the cancellations and postponements of competitions led them to watch other teams and other sports.

Once installed in a good old sofa, the smartphone is never far away. Internet users are therefore more inclined to juggle between the television and their phone to send a message, share a photo… or chat on social networks with a friend who follows the same program from home.

Tracking the behavior of sports fans represents a great opportunity for brands. And the French are not the last when it comes to juggling a match and their smartphone. Behind the Netherlands (84%) and the United States (83%), the French on Snapchat are 81% to follow their favorite sports on different screens. The application is therefore a potential gateway to position and interact with engaged Internet users.

The study is signed Snapchat, but the resulting observations can obviously be applied to other audiences on other platforms. Indeed, the social network is lucky to have millions of users who are sports fans and very connected, but it is not the only one on the market. Here or on another application, industry brands are and will be present to target those who eat, sleep and breathe sports.
