Snapchat would like to reassure parents by offering them additional means to ensure the safety of their teenagers.
The platform ainsi introduced a new integrated tool called the application Family Centerthat will help parents better understand who their teenage girls are friends with on Snapchat and who they communicated with, without revealing the substance of those conversations.
Family Center is designed to reflect the way parents interact with their adolescents in the real world, where parents generally know who their adolescents are friends with and when they are traveling – but they don’t listen to their private conversations.
On this new feature, parents can also easily and confidentially report any account that may concern them directly to the platform teams, who work 24 hours a day to ensure the safety of Snapchatters.
This fall, Snapchat plans to add additional features to Family Center, including new controls for parents and the possibility for teenagers to notify their parents when they report an account or content.
