Snapchat King guilty of producing and distributing child pornography

In her judgment, Judge Sandra Rioux confirmed that the videos filmed sent by the young man on the photo and video sharing application Snapchat did constitute child pornography.

Dylan Demers was therefore convicted of six counts of producing and distributing child pornography. However, he was acquitted of the charges of harassment and computer luring.

The complainants were between 13 and 17 years old at the time of the alleged acts, which took place during very drunken parties. They were filmed in sexually explicit positions with their buttocks in the air. The content of these videos was subsequently posted on Snapchat for a 24 hour period.

The judge of the Court of Quebec affirms that the evidence shows that Dylan Demers knew that the victims were indeed minors.

It also indicates that no evidence of collusion between the complainants was presented and that they were victims together of the same filmed event.

The trial of the man in his twenties was held last December at the Quebec City courthouse.

Dylan Demers will remain at large until he receives his sentence. A presentence report will be prepared in the coming weeks. Sentencing observations are scheduled for early fall.

In January 2020, his sidekick Carlos Desjardins, who had pleaded guilty, was sentenced to 4.5 years in prison.

Before being charged, the two men enjoyed significant popularity on social networks. Dylan Demers even claimed to be the King of Snapchat.
