Snap will launch a standalone iOS video editing app called Story Studio later this year

Snap wants to be the mind of business people when it comes to editing video on mobile, which is why, at the partnership’s annual meeting today, the company announced a new iOS app that will help it get started. Achieve this goal: Story Studio. It will offer users editing tools specially designed for mobile or vertical videos. The app will pull data from Snapchat and its new Spotlight feature, better known as its TikTok competitor, to help people understand how and what to do.

They can view Snapchat information such as app trends via voice, hashtags and goals. The lenses will be integrated directly into Story Studio, along with Snapchat sounds and stickers, so editors can add them. Of course, like most other video editing applications, users can trim their videos and edit frame by frame. They can then share directly to Snapchat via the built-in button or upload their work to post on other apps. In particular, content created on Story Studio will not include a watermark, which means if posted on other platforms, such as Instagram Reels, it will not be demoted with an algorithm.

The app will launch later this year and the company hasn’t shared any further details on the possible Android version.

Additionally, today Snap provides an update for Spotlight. On the one hand, it makes it easier for video editors to upload the content they have created to more sophisticated desktop applications, such as Final Cut Pro.
