Pixy it’s a flying camera. A drone that fits in the palm of your hand and is designed for you to take the best images, including selfies, with great comfort. The device flies on its own, takes video and transfers it to the target device wirelessly. It is also capable of landing on its owner’s hand when extended.

A company application allows you to modify the created content and publish it on the Snapchat social network. Pixy is the brainchild of Snap, the company behind Snapchat.

Its shape and use of yellow with red accents can lead the unsuspecting to mistake the flying camera for a toy. In part it is, but only because drones have become increasingly accessible tools. Pixy could be the first of these devices for many users. That said, it’s still a drone and is tied to the same regulations as the “big boys”. This has meant that for the moment it is only marketed in the US and France.

Technical details

Pixy is about 13,1 x 10,6 x 17,6 cm. weighs about 101 grams including your battery. Each battery charge allows about 5 to 8 flights. A charge can take 40 minutes although 80% charge is achieved in 20.

The images taken by the camera are of 12 MPwith a resolution of 4000×3000. The video has a quality of 2.7K and about 30 frames per second.

Pixy has a flash memory of 16GB and can store up to 100 videos or 1000 photos.

It is compatible with iPhone 7 and later, requires at least iOS 14. It can also be used with some devices running Android 8 and later.
