“Snakes often end up in people’s homes.” A python crawls into a boy’s bed in the middle of the night and bites him twice

“Snakes often end up in people’s homes because they’re looking for cooler places to hide in the heat of the day,” Brown told Newsweek.

In this case, the snake was not poisonous. Pythons of this species (Morelia spilota) are found throughout Australia and can reach up to four meters in length, although in most cases they do not exceed two meters.

Brown writes that the snake appears to have entered the home through a hole in the ceiling used as an air conditioner outlet.

Brown also writes that despite the fact that this case might look like an unprovoked snake attack on a child, it most certainly is not.

“Snakes don’t attack people. They will only bite if they feel threatened or hurt. This snake only bit the child because it felt threatened. Most likely, the child was sleeping on top of it and the snake had to defend itself,” said Brown.

However, the boy was taken to the hospital for safety, where the bite wounds were disinfected and treated.

The snake itself, in turn, was transported far away from people’s homes and roads.
