Snail venom is found to contain an anti-diabetic component

A substance that treats diabetes and hormonal disorders has been found in the toxin of one of the most poisonous creatures on Earth: American researchers studied the venom of a snail known as the “conus snail.” It contains a substance that is similar to the human somatostatin hormone. It prevents glucose and certain hormones from rising in the blood.

Experts have found that consomatin works more specifically than today’s synthetic drugs. In addition, it works in the body longer than the human hormone because of a special amino acid that makes it difficult to break down.
