BEIRUT, KOMPAS.TV – The Lebanese police have arrested two people suspected of smuggling drugs to Saudi Arabia.
The smuggling was carried out under the guise of sending pomegranates.
As a result, according to Lebanese Interior Minister Mohamed Fehmi, Saudi Arabia has banned the entry of fruits and vegetables from Lebanon.
Quoted from Associated Press, Fehmi said Interpol is currently pursuing a third suspect.
However, he did not explain any further details and only said the case was still being investigated.
Saudi Arabia last month announced it had seized five million Captagon amphetamine pills, which were stored in a pomegranate shipment from Lebanon.
