“SMRC Survey Shows Ganjar Pranowo Slightly Superior to Prabowo Subianto in Electability for Presidential Candidate”

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The results of a survey by the Saiful Mujani Research & Consulting (SMRC) agency revealed that Ganjar Pranowo was slightly superior in electability as a presidential candidate (capres) compared to Prabowo Subianto in critical voter circles.

The results are SMRC simulations with the assumption that there will be two presidential candidate names, namely Ganjar and Prabowo.

“In the last survey, if only two candidates competed for Ganjar vs Prabowo, then Ganjar received 42.2 percent support, then Prabowo 41.9 percent. And there are still 15.9 percent who don’t know,” said SMRC Research Director Deni Irvani in SMRC TV Youtube show, Sunday (7/5/2023).

Nevertheless, Deni admitted that his party could not conclude which one was superior between Ganjar and Prabowo.

However, he admitted, Ganjar had fallen behind Prabowo in the survey period from March to April.

Kompas.com notes, the SMRC survey for the period March 7-10, Prabowo has electability 42.1 percent, while Ganjar 37.7 percent.

Then, in the April 4-7 survey, Prabowo also won 46.3 percent while Ganjar 37.7 percent. Then, in the April 18-19 survey, it was recorded that Prabowo was again ahead of Ganjar, namely 46.4 percent compared to 38.2 percent.

Furthermore, on April 25-28, Prabowo was still superior, namely 45.7 percent compared to Ganjar’s 38.1 percent.

“Then it was seen that there was a recovery (Ganjar’s electability) in the last survey until it became very tight or very balanced,” said Deni.

For your information, this survey was conducted on 2-5 May 2023 using the random digit dialing (RDD) survey method.

Using the RDD technique, a sample of 925 people was selected through a random telephone number generation process, validation and screening.

The survey’s margin of error is estimated at around 3.3 percent at a 95 percent confidence level.

Interviews with respondents were conducted via telephone by trained interviewers.
