Warsaw entrepreneur Zbigniew Komosa also appeared on site, and every month he leaves an offensive wreath at the monument to the victims of the disaster. The plaque attached to the wreath blames Lech Kaczyński for the disaster of April 10, 2010.

Police negotiators appeared on site. “During the May anniversary, there were mainly verbal skirmishes. Jarosław Kaczyński and PiS politicians laid wreaths, prayed in front of the monuments and left. The president was accompanied by private security all the time,” reports “Fakt”.

Request to waive the immunity of Jarosław Kaczyński

Let us recall that at the beginning of May, a motion to waive Jarosław Kaczyński’s immunity was submitted to the Sejm. This concerns the incident on April 10 in front of the monument to the victims of the Smolensk disaster. The reason for the request to waive the immunity of the PiS president are the events of the 14th anniversary of the Smolensk disaster.

On April 10, at Piłsudski Square in Warsaw, Jarosław Kaczyński took a wreath placed in front of the victims’ monument with the inscription: “In memory of the 95 victims of Lech Kaczyński, who, ignoring all procedures, ordered the pilots to land in Smolensk in extremely difficult conditions. Rest in peace. Polish nation.”

According to RMF’s findings, the owner of the wreath claimed that the value of the destroyed item exceeded PLN 800 – which would mean that the PiS president could be held liable for a crime. However, this value was not documented, and the police finally valued the item at PLN 400. The case was discontinued and was considered a misdemeanor involving “destruction and theft of a wreath in front of the monument to the victims of the Smolensk disaster.”
