Clothing chain in bankruptcy – everything is sold on sale
After 25 years in the industry, an esteemed clothing chain has to throw in the towel.
The chain actually began its journey back in 1986 under the temporary name Gunn’s Presentboutique, and after a successful start to the business, it expanded to several stores in 2005.
The successes continued and the company was taken into Interiörhuset i Väst AB, one of Sweden’s leading wholesalers in the gift and home furnishing industry.
But now the success story is over.
– It is with great sadness in our hearts that we unfortunately have to announce that our beloved family business has gone bankrupt, Interiörhuset announces.
Several stores in southern Sweden
This also means that the Dimoda chain, with a focus on mainly clothes, home furnishings and fashion, also goes bankrupt.
– It is very sad, but we have been struggling with the economy for four years and this was the last resort, says Andreas Karlsson, CEO of Interiösthuset i Väst AB, to Partille Tidning.
Dimoda, which has grown into an increasingly large player on the west coast and in southern Sweden, has stores in five locations in the country: Gothenburg, Partille, Ubbhult, Malmö and Kristianstad.
– Here you can find clothes from Mirelle Design, jewellery, bags and a wide range of interior accessories. Everything from decorative figures to towels, cushions, throws, furniture, candles, lanterns, fragrances and artificial flowers, the chain describes itself and its range.
Everything sold out: “Heavily discounted”
All stores are included in the company’s bankruptcy filing, and until March 10-11, all goods will now be sold in the form of a bankruptcy sale.
– The stores are at full speed now and our hope is to sell out as much as possible of the company’s inventory directly to consumers. The staff does an outstanding job and there are good sales, because the prices are heavily discounted and the stores will cease to exist in the future, says bankruptcy administrator Christian Andersch from Setterwall’s law firm to Göteborgs-Posten.
30 people are laid off
Around 30 people have lost their jobs as a result of the bankruptcy.
However, all employees are obliged to work until one month after the bankruptcy is a fact.
Dimoda has been struggling uphill ever since the pandemic and great resources were put into trying to equip e-commerce, but it is not enough.
– Thank you for all the wonderful customers over the years, we have loved every moment, regrets Interiörhuset.
