This company established a factory in Latvia in 2020; so far, his team has installed more than 2,000 charging stations of his own design in Estonia, Lithuania, Poland, the United States and other countries.
The team has accumulated international experience, collaborating with companies in various sectors, looking for individual solutions according to the needs and circumstances of each client. However, after evaluating the further development of the company, “Smart Electric Technology” has chosen Latvia as the place of its main activity, where the public already has an understanding of electric machine advantages and the need to develop charging infrastructure.
Investment and development agencies of Latvia (LIAA) director Kaspars Rozkalns states that “Smart Electric Technology” has entered Latvia with the support of LIAA and is currently preparing for the next phase of investment in order to offer its technologies both in EU countries and in other markets. One of the company’s pilot projects will also be implemented in Latvia, providing electric charging infrastructure at petrol stations. “Intelligent mobility is one of the priority directions in the field of investment attraction, so we are pleased that the company continues its development in Latvia,” he says.
“We have several solutions that we would also like to implement in Latvia. Above all, we want to make sure that every customer always has a charged battery at all times while sitting behind the wheel of their electric car. We want to make our contribution to the development of electric cars, so that people are not afraid to switch from traditional cars to electric cars”, explains Grigori Sargsyan, founder and CEO of SIA “Smart Electric Technology”.
Currently, around ten employees are employed at the manufacturing plant established in Jaunmārupe and the company plans to attract even more specialists. Its future plans also include opening branches in the United States, expanding its operations by providing charging stations in both Europe and North America.
This year “Smart Electric Technology” won the tender of AS “Virši-A”, a trader of fuels and alternative energy sources, for the construction of new charging stations. According to the signed contract, 28 ports with a charging capacity of at least 150 kW will be installed in 20 “Viršu” stations.
Over the next two years, the company will help create and develop charging services at stations of the “Viršu” network. “With joint efforts, we will be able to offer the public new, high-quality and user-friendly charging stations in various regions of Latvia, which are especially important for those who use electric cars on a daily basis,” says Jānis Bethers, Business Development Manager of “Virsi”.
There are currently more than 3,000 electric cars on the Latvian market out of a total of around 700,000. for passenger cars. However, the number of electric cars will increase rapidly in the coming years. Infrastructure availability is one of the first steps in increasing this segment. Forecasts show that by 2030, there may already be around 60,000 electric cars in Latvia.
