Monkeypox vaccination in Peru will be voluntary and free, with priority given to HIV-positive people who are at risk of seriously developing the disease, the Ministry of Health (MINSA) said.
The ministry said in a statement that it had approved the technical standard establishing this vaccination “in order to protect the life and health of the population affected by this virus, as part of the strategy for the prevention and control of immune-preventable disease from vaccine”.
The campaign will be “safe, voluntary and free” to avoid serious conditions or complications and will target people at greatest risk of developing severe disease, who will receive two doses of the vaccine 28 days apart.
