This Monday, April 15, vaccination against smallpox began in health centers across the country.
This was reported by the authorities of the San Pedro Sula Metropolitan Health Department.
The chicken pox vaccine is available for children aged 15 months and up to 15 months and 29 days.
Smallpox, although a self-limiting disease, can become complicated and fatal.
Dr. Abel Ortega, from the metropolitan health district, explained that it is a single dose for children.
In the last 5 years 4,500 cases of chicken pox have been recorded, around 900 cases a year.
However, so far this year 2024, there is already a record of 300 cases, mainly with school children.
