Smallest dinosaur ever discovered: hummingbird size

The bird-like dinosaur’s head was found in northern Myanmar and was located in a 99 million-year-old amber stone. The animal would have weighed no more than 2 grams. The dinosaurs previously known as the smallest would have weighed a few hundred grams.

Bulging eyes

The striking, protruding eyes of the Oculudentavis are striking. According to scientists, the eye sockets can be compared to that of an owl. It is believed that the creature would have had an exceptional view. The row of teeth indicates that the Oculudentavis was a predator despite its size.

The dinosaur find could provide more knowledge about the relationship between dinosaurs and the birds we know today. Since only a heading has been found, information about it is likely to remain limited.

Strangest fossil ever

“It’s the strangest fossil I’ve ever studied,” said one of the scientists who examined the dinosaur. “It is great to see how natural selection produces such bizarre shapes. We are lucky that this fossil survived 99 million years.”
