This Tuesday we remain under the influence of a high pressure system stretched from North Africa to France, which tends to gradually strengthen. In this context, it is a summer week that promises to be, with an accentuation of the heat. This heat will correlate with an increased risk of thunderstorms, although the latter will rather be localized to part of the region. Let’s take stock below. The high pressure should occur during the next weekend, with a risk of very hot weather.
For tomorrow Wednesday, the morning promises to be sunny. At midday, large cumulus clouds will bud on the reliefs: Lozère, Cévennes and Pyrenees. During the afternoon, these cumulus clouds evolve locally until the storm. These storms will mainly affect the Cévennes, before sliding towards the Gard plains and East Hérault. Some thunderstorms are also to be expected on the Capcir. Elsewhere, the good weather persists. We could have isolated hail under these storm cells.
Despite this stormy risk, temperatures will continue to rise. We often expect 30 to 31 ° C in the plains, locally 32 to 33 ° C on the plains of Aude and the Pyrénées-Orientales. For Thursday we will have more or less the same situation. Always sunny in the morning and like the day before small thunderstorm risks in the afternoon especially near the Cévennes and in the interior Gard / Hérault. Temperatures remain hot, often with 31/32 ° C in the plains and peaks at 33 or 34 ° C from the Hérault to the Pyrénées-Orientales.
Friday, the good weather prevails. There is one area to watch: the lower Rhône valley! Thunderstorms could form between Vaucluse and Alpilles in the afternoon, before overflowing into eastern Gard at the end of the day. If this is confirmed, they may give occasional heavy rains and / or hail. To watch closely … Concerning the temperatures, they will remain hot to very hot. We could have 32/33 ° C generalized in the plain and locally up to 34 or 35 ° C near the Corbières.
For next weekend, we will always have this small risk of thunderstorms near the Cévennes and the Pyrenees in the afternoon, otherwise the sun will prevail overall. On Sunday, the small thunderstorm risks should disperse and cumulus clouds become sharply scarce. Concerning the temperatures, they should continue to rise and we should witness Sunday afternoon the first very strong heat of the year, with possibly up to 35 ° C in the interior of Gard, Vaucluse, East Hérault and the south of the Ardèche.
This period of good weather and very hot weather should last for a long time the following week. Temperatures should therefore oscillate between 32 and 35 ° C for several days, with the risk of thunderstorms becoming increasingly low. Summer is on!
