Small derby against Krefeld – Eishockey.net

Düsseldorf ground floor

After a difficult start from the long break, the Düsseldorfer EG has stabilized again with two wins in a row and is still aiming for 10th place. On Friday, March 11, at 7:30 p.m., the red and yellow will continue in their home PSD BANK DOME. Then the Düsseldorfers expect the Krefeld penguins. Two days later, Sunday, March 13, 2 p.m., six home games in a row will be followed by another away game. It’s against the Nuremberg Ice Tigers.

The red and yellow showed a very strong performance last Wednesday when the team sent the northern lights from Bremerhaven back home 6-1 despite eight corona-related absences – and without head coach Harold Kreis. The Düsseldorfers convinced with passion, commitment, fighting spirit and a lot of enthusiasm and let the fans in the hall erupt in frenetic cheers.

Things are going very differently for the Krefeld Penguins this season than the Black and Yellows had hoped. The KEV is currently the bottom of the PENNY DEL, has lost four out of six games since the Olympic break and only achieved both wins after penalty shootouts. A look at the statistics shows two major problems in Krefeld. The neighboring team has the second weakest offensive (116 goals) in the league and is also not in the top 10 in defense (149 goals conceded). In previous duels against DEG, KEV has already proved that none of this has to mean anything. The penguins won two out of three games against the red and yellow.

On Sunday there will be another direct duel at the Nürnberg Ice Tigers in the fight for 10th place and the first away game for Düsseldorf since January 20th. Bayern are fresh out of the Corona quarantine and are back in the game for the first time since March 2nd. Before this forced break, the Ice Tigers had four wins from six games, beating title favorite Mannheim, among others. In the table, Nuremberg is one place above the red and yellow. A weak point of Bayern could be the defensive. 155 goals against is the third weakest value in the PENNY DEL.

In terms of personnel, nothing has changed at Düsseldorf compared to the game against Bremerhaven. The red and yellow have to do without eight players (Marco Nowak, Paul Bittner, Joonas Järvinen, Niklas Heinzinger, Victor Svensson, Brett Olson, Hendrik Hane and Jakob Mayenschein) due to the corona. Head coach Harold Kreis is also missing.
